From the Clinic
Jun 3, 2025
India has one of the highest burdens of oral cancer in the world — nearly 30% of all cancers. The survival rate for Stage 1 is over 80%. For Stage 4, it drops below 20%. The gap between those numbers is not biology. It is detection.
The NHM Pilot
In 2023, Raamah Biocare conducted a pilot with the National Health Mission, Andhra Pradesh across 5 village clinics. A health worker — not a specialist — operated Dr.Oroscope after a structured training session. Result: 2,100 patients screened. Nearly 200 lesions identified. A 9.5% lesion detection rate in a population that would otherwise have had no screening at all.
What Dr.Oroscope Made Possible
CDSCO-approved. DST-funded. AI-based point-of-care diagnosis. Telemedicine referral for specialist review. Validated against Velscope across 2,430 patients in 4 government hospitals. Published in African Journal of Biological Sciences (2024).
